How are POC communities around the world organising for climate justice?

Thursday 15 Jun 2017 at 17:30, Toynbee Studios (Artsadmin)

As part of Artsadmin’s biennial #2DegreesFestival we collaborated with our extended family Voices that Shake!, Virtual Migrants and Platform, who helped us explore how art, music and poetry from people of colour can help make sense of climate change – and start fighting it. Special shout out to poets Selina Nwulu and Sai Murray for collaborating with us on this event.

We wanted to share some of the resources, examples and experiences we spoke about, so here are some of the sources we gathered:

Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network, A DECLARATION: Women of the World Call for Urgent Action on Climate Change & Sustainability Solutions

No such thing as Human Rights, by Casey Camp-Horinek

Continent Chop Chop, a Virtual Migrants performance

A Sense of Denial, by Dorothea Smartt

Home is a Hostile Lover, by Selina Nwulu

Moving from ‘no borders’ to broaderland for the borderless, by Farzana Khan

Do you know other people/organisations working on the intersection of race and climate change? Let us know – we wanna help develop and share the discourse.

Thank you to our Skin Deep resident photographer and filmmaker Femi Anderson for capturing the night.
